Marissa Hernandez is an Iowa-based artist deeply rooted in exploring and celebrating marginalized identities. Through expressive use of shape, color, and portraiture, she centers the lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), creating art that speaks to their beauty, and complexity. Hernandez uses faceless portraiture as a means of representation, inviting viewers to project their faces onto the subjects, fostering a sense of connection and affirmation with the artwork.
